Today we decided to show you one interesting idea for the bath – towel stand from cans. With this little handmade construction, you will always have in handy some clean towels, which will stay organized and easy to use.
To make the stand you will need some simple materials and recycled objects. The variation that we will show you is perfect for baths that are colored in green, but if you want another color, you can make it the same way.
If we intrigued you, keep reading.
You will need:
Empty big cans – 6 pieces;
Paper decoupage napkins;
Rectangular piece of plywood or chipboard;
Straps or strips for decoration;
Ordinary or electric screwdriver.
How to do it:
For starter, wash and dry the cans. Use only cans that have automated opening or were being opened with a can opener to be sure that they won’t have sharp edges.
Use the primer on the cans and then paint them in milky color. This is necessary so the paper napkins would stick nicely to the surface. The most important thing is the dark color of the cans to be invisible when you stick the napkins on the top. Wait for the paint to dry well, before you take the next step.
Paint with the same milky color the rectangular piece of plywood or chipboard.
Take the paper napkins and cut from them the desired details (in this case we use roses).
After that carefully glue them on the metal cans using the decoupage or PVA glue. The decoupage rule says that you have to apply the glue onto the napkin and then stick it on the surface from the center to the edges.
Only one figure from the napkin won’t be enough and won’t look good, so cut more and apply them on the cans.
To make the cans look even nicely, you can glue on the edges some decoration straps or strips.
Use the strips to decorate the piece of plywood or chipboard. After you’ve done that screw the cans onto the wooden surface.
And that’s all! Your handmade towel stand is ready. You can attach it to the bathroom wall.
