  • 150 g Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 large Egg, at room temperature
  • 1 tsp Liquid Red Dye

  1. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cream the butter.
  3. Add the sugar and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and mix.
  5. Add the flour mixture and stir or knead until no visible flour remains.
  6. Divide the dough into two equal parts.
  7. Add the red dye to half of the dough.
  8. Stir in the dye using a spatula or knead by hand. If necessary, add more dye until the dough is a bright, rich color.
  9. Place both doughs in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  10. Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350 F.

  12. Transfer the dough to a baking tray lined with baking paper and make a cane shape. Cut off the ends.
  13. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Let cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes.
  14. Enjoy!
